SCAAT (Sichuan Academy of Aerospace Technology, which is also known as Sichuan Aerospace Industry Corporation and Sichuan Aerospace Administration Bureau) has more than 40 years of glorious history.  It is a sub-company of CASC (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation), focusing on defense equipments production, research and development of rocket weapon systems, and application of aerospace technology. SCAAT is a large-scale scientific research and production organization.  Its scope covers production of space aircrafts, aerospace technology application industries and service industries.

SCAAT consists of factories, research institutes, design institutes, a measurement station, a college, a hospital, and various companies.  More than 20 members are mainly distributed in the cities of Chengdu, Luzhou, Wanyuan and Chongqing.  There are more than 15,000 employees in SCAAT, including nearly 5,000 technical staff.

The headquarters of SCAAT is located in the Economic and Technological Development Zone (national class), and a 30 hectares aerospace science and technology park has been established there.  SCAAT has built up a professional scientific research and production system, specializing in large-scale mechanism manufacture, integrated machinery processing, precision machinery processing, electronic-controlled instruments and equipment, turbojet engines, guidance and control equipment, specialized vehicles, and fire initiating devices.  A strong capability in scientific development and equipment manufacture, a mature technical assembly capability, and a strict quality assurance system are major features in SCAAT.
